A good friend of mine has just recently raised her self-esteem. It wasn't easy for her, but she is getting more confident of her abilities. She now has high self esteem and I would like to discuss three of the ways that she was able to raise it. The first way she helped to raise her self-es.
Those suffering from low self-esteem are usually unable to tolerate criticism, even when it is meant to help them. Be sensitive to this. Always remember that self-esteem is about how much children feel valued, appreciated, accepted, and loved. You should work to preserve a student's self-image and help them to see themselves as you see them.
Having low self-esteem is not just a global sense of being worthless; it manifests itself in action—or in inaction—whenever the child (and later, the grown child)—attempts to do anything.
Another way to increase self-esteem is to learn how to love one’s self. An individual should learn how to take care of his or herself physically, emotionally, or mentally. When a person looks good and feels good about him or herself, he or she gives off a good energy, which can attract other people.
Low-self esteem essentially comes about from a lack of self-love and self-rejection (Teen, 2). It is rooted in past experiences, especially if the person did not get much affirmation and reinforcement in their childhood, or was hurt and rejected in some way, and has fear and negative thinking at its core (Harter, 2).
Some of the “to do” things to reverse low self-esteem are: Become positive, stay away from negative things and people, become decisive, love and have compassion for self, be thankful, appreciative and forgive. These are all good qualities that can, in fact, turn the tide against low self-esteem. To me the main cause of low self-esteem is fear.
Low Self-esteem is one of the biggest issues I have observed around the world, especially in high school. We need to start having self-confidence in ourselves. Some of us say we could care less what others say and sometimes for most that is true, but for others it is just a cover up.
Self-esteem has been a topic of heated debate throughout decades. It has been acknowledged that it affects people’s lives. It is also known that numerous factors contribute to development of low or high self-esteem towards self-image.
